Senior Cybersecurity Analyst – Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Integration

Senior Cybersecurity Analyst – M&A Integration:

On behalf of our Oil & Gas client, Vaquarii is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Analyst – M&A Integration for an initial 6-month contract with a high possibility of extension.

We are looking for a highly experienced cybersecurity professional to lead strategic cybersecurity synergy assessments, identify technology and vendor consolidation opportunities, and develop a comprehensive cybersecurity integration roadmap supporting ongoing mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activities.

The successful candidate will work closely with cybersecurity leadership, enterprise architecture teams, and key business stakeholders to evaluate existing cybersecurity environments, identify overlapping technologies and contractual obligations, and recommend opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and establish a unified enterprise cybersecurity strategy.

This is a strategic, analysis-driven position rather than a hands-on cybersecurity operations or security monitoring role.

Responsibilities:

Cybersecurity Synergy Analysis & Cost Optimization:

  • Conduct comprehensive cybersecurity synergy assessments across organizations undergoing mergers, acquisitions, and technology integration.
  • Assess existing cybersecurity environments to identify overlapping applications, security platforms, infrastructure services, vendor relationships, and contractual commitments.
  • Review cybersecurity vendor agreements, licensing arrangements, service contracts, and associated expenditures to identify opportunities for cost reduction and service consolidation.
  • Evaluate existing firewall technologies, endpoint protection platforms, and other enterprise cybersecurity solutions to identify redundant capabilities and opportunities for standardization.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity architects, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to understand existing technology architectures and integration dependencies.
  • Perform comparative assessments of cybersecurity solutions and service providers, considering functionality, cost, security capabilities, contractual obligations, and long-term business requirements.
  • Quantify potential financial benefits associated with technology rationalization, vendor consolidation, and contract optimization.
  • Develop evidence-based recommendations and business cases supporting cybersecurity cost optimization, with an initial organizational savings objective of approximately $500,000.
  • Identify potential security, operational, contractual, and business risks associated with proposed consolidation initiatives.

M&A Cybersecurity Integration Strategy & Roadmap:

  • Develop a strategic, multi-year cybersecurity integration roadmap to support the consolidation and standardization of security technologies across merged organizations.
  • Assess existing cybersecurity architectures and identify opportunities to establish a more unified, enterprise-class security technology environment.
  • Define recommended consolidation initiatives, implementation priorities, dependencies, and sequencing across cybersecurity platforms and services.
  • Evaluate opportunities to reduce the number of firewall providers, endpoint protection solutions, and overlapping cybersecurity technologies.
  • Identify appropriate opportunities and timelines for vendor evaluations, competitive procurement processes, and Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Develop technology consolidation recommendations that consider existing contractual commitments, renewal dates, operational dependencies, and long-term integration objectives.
  • Support a vendor-neutral evaluation approach across major enterprise cybersecurity providers, including Palo Alto Networks, Cisco, Fortinet, and comparable solutions.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity leadership and architecture teams to ensure integration recommendations align with enterprise security standards, business priorities, and long-term technology strategy.
  • Present strategic findings, cost-benefit assessments, integration recommendations, and proposed roadmaps to cybersecurity leadership and relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the development of a three-to-four-year cybersecurity consolidation strategy designed to establish a more consistent and cost-effective enterprise security environment.

Must Have Skills:

  1. Extensive professional experience in cybersecurity, including significant exposure to enterprise cybersecurity architecture, technology strategy, or security transformation initiatives.
  2. Demonstrated experience evaluating enterprise cybersecurity environments, identifying technology redundancies, and recommending consolidation or optimization opportunities.
  3. Strong understanding of enterprise cybersecurity technologies, including firewalls, network security platforms, endpoint protection solutions, and related security services.
  4. Proven ability to interpret cybersecurity architecture documentation, technical designs, vendor contracts, licensing agreements, and service arrangements.
  5. Experience conducting technology cost assessments, vendor comparisons, financial analysis, or business-case development.
  6. Demonstrated ability to develop strategic technology roadmaps, including initiative prioritization, dependencies, sequencing, and implementation timelines.
  7. Strong analytical and investigative capabilities, with the ability to examine complex technical and contractual information and identify actionable opportunities for improvement.
  8. Experience collaborating with cybersecurity architects, infrastructure teams, technical specialists, and senior leadership.

Nice to Have Skills:

  1. Previous cybersecurity integration experience involving mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, or enterprise technology consolidation.
  2. Experience supporting cybersecurity vendor rationalization, contract negotiations, RFP development, or competitive technology procurement processes.
  3. Experience working within large, complex organizations, particularly in the Oil & Gas, Energy, or other asset-intensive industries.
  4. Familiarity with major enterprise cybersecurity platforms, including Palo Alto Networks, Cisco, and Fortinet.
  5. Previous experience working with international organizations, particularly those operating in Latin America.
  6. Spanish-language proficiency would be considered an asset but is not required.

Job Location:

  • Calgary Greater Area, Alberta
  • Hybrid Work Schedule

What Success Looks Like

  • The successful candidate will provide cybersecurity leadership with a clear, evidence-based understanding of the existing security environments across merging organizations, identifying duplicated technologies, overlapping vendor agreements, and opportunities to achieve meaningful cost savings.
  • Through detailed architecture assessments, contractual analysis, and collaboration with technical stakeholders, they will develop actionable consolidation recommendations and a strategic, multi-year cybersecurity integration roadmap.
  • Success will be measured by the ability to identify and quantify cost optimization opportunities, support an initial savings objective of approximately $500,000, and establish a practical path toward a streamlined, standardized, and enterprise-class cybersecurity environment.
