Senior SAP HR Functional Analyst:

On behalf of our oil & gas client, Vaquarii is seeking a Senior SAP HR Functional Analyst for a 9-Month Contract with a high possibility of extension or conversion to full-time employment.

 

The perfect candidate will Design, validate, and govern SAP S/4HANA HR processes and ensure end-to-end HR processes are fit-for-standard, scalable, and aligned with clean-core principles across pay, compensation, time management, and the full hire-to-retire worker lifecycle.

 

Services would be carried out though a Hybrid Work Schedule from their downtown Calgary headquarters.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design, validate, and govern SAP S/4HANA HR processes.
  • Ensure end-to-end HR processes are fit-for-standard, scalable, and aligned with clean-core principles across pay, compensation, time management, and the full hire-to-retire worker lifecycle.
  • Lead and facilitate fit-to-standard workshops across HR domains.
  • Document where SAP standard is adopted and where justified deviations exist.
  • Manage scope clarity and reduce delivery risk through strong functional governance.
  • Validate and govern integration requirements across client’s HR ecosystem: Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Fieldglass, and HR analytics platforms.
  • Client operates a large Workday footprint and improving the Workday-to-S/4HANA integration
  • is a named program objective – this is the highest-priority workstream in the HR domain.
  • Partner with the system integrator to review and approve HR functional designs.
  • Act as the conduit between client’s internal HR team and the SI, ensuring clean-core adherence and preventing unnecessary customization.
  • Own go-live readiness for HR domains: define functional test scenarios, validate HR master and transactional data readiness (pay, compensation, time, worker data), support cutover planning, and ensure day-one operational stability.

 

TECHNICAL ENVIRONMENT

  • SAP S/4HANA HR (HCM) – core functional design and governance across pay, compensation, time management, and hire-to-retire processes.
  • Integrated HR platforms in active scope: Workday (primary integration focus and top differentiator), SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central, SAP Fieldglass (HR domain integration), and HR analytics platforms. Integration redesign – not maintenance
  • Client has a large, established Workday footprint.
  • Improving the Workday-to-S/4HANA integration is an explicit program objective.
  • Candidates who have designed or redesigned this integration are the highest-priority profile for this role.

 

Must Have Skills:

  1. Deep SAP S/4HANA HR (HCM) functional expertise covering pay, compensation, time management, and hire-to-retire lifecycle, validated through at least one major ERP transformation or implementation.
  2. Demonstrated SAP SuccessFactors integration experience with S/4HANA core.
  3. Workday integration experience with SAP HCM or S/4HANA.
  4. Proven fit-to-standard and clean-core execution in HR processes.
  5. Strong cross-functional stakeholder engagement at middle-to-upper management level across HR, IS, and business areas.

 

Nice to Have Skills:

  1. SAP Fieldglass integration with S/4HANA HR (TC Energy is also targeting improvements to CWC-related HR integration within this domain.)
  2. SAP HCM Payroll depth (payroll is in scope within the hire-to-retire lifecycle)
  3. SAP HCM Core, SAP HCM Payroll, Workday HCM Core, Workday Pro HCM, or SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central certifications.
  4. Energy, utilities, or complex regulated industry background.
  5. ISTQB, PMP, or Agile/Scrum certification.

 

Job Location:

  • Downtown Calgary, Alberta
  • Hybrid Work Schedule (Mon/Tue/Thu in office)

 

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Workday integration experience is the primary filter for this role.
  • Candidates with real, hands-on Workday-to-SAP HCM/S/4HANA integration design experience
  • should be the first submissions through the door.
  • SAP SuccessFactors integration is a hard requirement alongside core HCM depth. Module-only HCM candidates without integration design experience will not progress past initial review.
  • Greenfield S/4HANA experience is preferred.
  • SAP HCM (non-S/4HANA) transformation experience is accepted.
