On behalf of our oil & gas client, Vaquarii is seeking a Senior SAP MDM Master Data Analyst for a 24-Month Contract with a high possibility of extension or conversion to full-time employment.
The perfect candidate will process day-to-day material master requests across the full lifecycle (creation, change, and deletion) using SAP and MVO Fuze, with accuracy and governance compliance as the primary standard.
Services would be carried out though a Hybrid Work Schedule from their downtown Calgary headquarters.
Responsibilities:
- Validate incoming requests against client’s material nomenclature standards, naming conventions, and abbreviation frameworks.
- Catch and correct non-compliant submissions before they enter the system.
- Manage a variable-volume inbox that can hold 40+ requests representing anywhere from 40 to 200+ individual material records depending on batch size.
- When core volume eases, participate in data cleanup, standardization, and deduplication activities in
- coordination with the inventory management team.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across supply chain, procurement, and finance to ensure accurate, complete data setup that keeps downstream operations running – no external vendor communication.
- As the master data and inventory teams integrate over the engagement period, contribute to cross-team coordination on data quality initiatives including standardization and deduplication.
TECHNICAL ENVIRONMENT
- SAP – material master creation and maintenance is the core technical requirement. Candidates must understand material master data from an operational supply chain perspective, not from an IT or data migration background.
- MVO Fuze – current MDM tool base, carries forward into the new SAP environment.
- WinShuttle – used for mass data loads. Candidates will run existing scripts, not write them. No automation development expected. This tool is fully trainable on the job.
- Microsoft 365 – standard platform for communication and documentation.
Must Have Skills:
- Minimum 3 years of SAP material master creation and maintenance — hands-on, active management in an operational supply chain or operations environment. (This must be direct creation and editing work, not data migration validation or IT-side oversight)
- Operations or supply chain background (the candidate must have done the work from the inside, not supervised or audited it. Hiring manager confirmed this distinction is visible on a resume and in an interview.)
- Data governance discipline – adherence to material nomenclature standards, naming conventions, and approval matrices without being prompted. Ability to enforce standards with internal stakeholders who push back.
- High-volume attention to detail – errors in this environment have direct downstream consequences in procurement, finance, and warehouse operations. Accuracy over speed.
- Commitment to a 2-year engagement – candidates seeking project exposure, S/4HANA upgrade involvement, or growth into project management roles should not be submitted.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Oil and gas or energy sector experience with SAP material master specifically — confirmed as an instant differentiator on a resume.
- Experience with both routine creation and enrichment/deduplication of material records, not only standard data entry.
- Familiarity with MVO Fuze or comparable MDM tooling.
- Supply chain designation (CPIM, CSCP, SCMP)
Job Location:
- Downtown Calgary, Alberta
- Hybrid Work Schedule (Mon/Tue/Thu in office)
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- 3–7 years in supply chain or operations-side SAP roles with hands-on material master creation and
- lifecycle maintenance as a core function — not a supporting or oversight function.
- SAP material master (ECC or S/4HANA); MVO Fuze or comparable MDM tool an asset; WinShuttle
- trainable on the job
