Intermediate SAP Master Materials (MM) Data Analyst

On behalf of our oil & gas client, Vaquarii is seeking an Intermediate SAP Master Materials (MM) Data Analyst for a 24-Month Contract with a high possibility of extension or conversion to full-time employment The perfect candidate will be creating or maintaining master data in SAP at the field level. Services would be carried out though a Hybrid Work Schedule from their downtown Calgary headquarters.

Responsibilities:

• Execute day-to-day master data operations across client’s supply chain function, with primary responsibility on Vendor Master creation, maintenance, and governance in SAP.
• Own end-to-end vendor onboarding: intake requests, validate vendor documentation, conduct fraud screening calls, verify banking details and tax information (W-8/W-9), and ensure compliance with anti-bribery and procurement controls before any record is created in SAP.
• Collaborate with Procurement, Accounts Payable, Tax, Finance, and the Land team to resolve data inconsistencies, clarify incomplete submissions, and ensure vendor records are complete and accurate at the field level prior to system entry.
• Support Material Master and Service Master operations as workload and capacity dictate.
• The team is small and cross-trained – flexibility across master data objects is expected over time.
• This role is a direct backfill for a team member dedicated to Client’s active S/4HANA upgrade project.
• The work is operational, not project-based.
• The right person owns the daily queue and keeps it moving without prompting.

Must Have Skills:

1. Hands-on SAP experience at the field level – creating or maintaining master data objects (Vendor Master, Material Master, or equivalent). Configuration, basis, or IS roles do not qualify.
2. Genuine comfort with high-volume, process-driven, repetitive data operations. This person must be content doing this work day-to-day for the duration of the engagement.
3. Vendor master experience or direct equivalent – intake processing, documentation validation, fraud screening, compliance with creation and governance rules.
4. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage a constant in-flight queue without dropping items.
5. Collaborative working style – daily interaction with Procurement, AP, Tax, Finance, and Land teams to resolve issues and gather documentation.

Nice to Have Skills:

1. Vendor master depth  – anti-bribery, fraud detection, and vendor governance experience reduces onboarding lift significantly and is the hiring team’s stated top preference.
2. Well-rounded master data background covering both vendor and material masters in SAP.
3. Supply chain or materials management background – understanding how master data fields affect downstream procurement and AP processes.
4. Experience conducting fraud calls or validating sensitive vendor documentation (banking details, tax forms).
5. Familiarity with WinShuttle or LSMW (script execution, not development).

• A candidate with 1–2 years of hands-on vendor master experience who demonstrates intrinsic motivation will rank above a 5-year candidate who frames this as a temporary position.
• Screen hard on the SAP profile.
• T/IS configurators are the most common false positive and have failed in this team before.
• The resume will look like SAP experience – must confirm field-level data execution, not backend configuration.
